Job Requirements

  • Pen Maintenance: maintain feedlot pens by box scraping, hauling clay, welding, fixing and/or building fence, etc.
  • Feed Delivery: operating feed trucks to accurately deliver rationed feed to Nodaway Valley Feeders managed cattle according to feeding schedule.
  • Mill Operations and Maintenance: assist will feed mill operations, including the production and mixing of feed to meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Animal Health and Processing: Providing support to cattle feedlot operations as needed, including assisting with cattle handling, feed delivery, processing, and other feedlot tasks.
  • Facility Upkeep: perform general maintenance and repairs on buildings, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Shift and Holiday Work: Working every third weekend and alternating every 3-4 holidays.
  • Skill Development: Demonstrating a desire to grow skills and abilities through ongoing learning and adaptability.

Education & Experience

  • Licensing: Class A CDL, an insurable and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and ability to retain a medical certificate by passing a DOT physical. Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test. 1-2 years CDL driving experience, preferred.
  • Experience: Cattle experience (or similar) on-farm experience of 1-2 years, preferred

Physical Requirements: Ability to climb steps, handle physical tasks related to mill and livestock operations, and lift 50+ lbs (e.g., feed bags).  Ability to work in all weather conditions, required.  Ability to operate and maintain heavy equipment such as loaders, tractors, and feed trucks.
